MBHS Update - Week of 10/11/21

Hello Mission Bay Families!

Here are some important announcements for the week of 10/11.  We have many important announcements, please read the entire communication.

  • COVID testing at MB -  Free COVID testing is available for all MB students on Thursdays.

Fill out the Consent Form and Release of Information Form found on the district website under "COVID-19 Testing". After those forms are filled out and returned to school, you must make an appointment online with UCSD each week for your student to be tested. You may make the appointment here. We recommend that students get tested weekly for the health and safety of everyone on campus.

Students who make an appointment for testing should show their appointment verification to their teacher to get a pass, then report to the Counseling Conference room at the end of the Main Office hallway for testing at their appointed time.

  • Please complete LCFF - Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) form.  This is important for funding the school programs. Parents can visit the PowerSchool Parent Portal to access the electronic LCFF Form.  The form is only available in Parent accounts. You can not access the form using your child’s id and password.  Log in using your browser (not the app) and click on LCFF Data Collection icon on the left side of the screen.  Follow the on-screen instructions.  If you do not have a Parent Portal account, please contact agriffin@sandi.net

  • Students in grade 11 will be taking the PSAT on Wednesday, October 13th.  Testing locations have been shared and posted in their English class.  Testing starts at 8:45 am.  Please make sure your student is on time for testing.  Students should bring a number 2 pencil and a calculator (optional).

  • Wednesday, October 13th, is a minimum day.  Students will be released at 1:59 pm.

  • Friday, October 15th is Homecoming.  The Homecoming football game vs. Kearny High School begins at 7:00 pm.  The Homecoming Dance will take place from 6:00 - 10:00 pm on Saturday, October 16th at the Air and Space Museum at Balboa Park.

  • Federal Survey Cards went home on 10/6. The information collected is used for our schools to receive Federal Aid to offset lost property taxes for federally owned properties. We are aiming for 100% participation and we ask that families complete a form for each student and return with your student ASAP.

Students who need to leave campus during the school day must have school authorization by way of a Blue Slip.  Failure to get a Blue Slip before leaving campus will result in a truancy.

We ask that you make appointments before or after school as loss of class time can affect a student’s grades.  If it is necessary for a student to be excused early, the student should bring a note from the parent/guardian.  Request for Blue Slips should be handled before school or during passing period in the attendance office.  By receiving the pass in advance a student can meet their parent/guardian in front of the school. This process helps to eliminate delays such as parking, or the need to call the student’s classroom.

You may also call the office to request a Blue Slip.  If calling, we respectfully request a minimum of one hour advance notice.

  • Per district guidance, parent access to the campus is limited at this time.  Please do not come to campus unless pre-arranged with administration.

Take care,

Erin Leszynski, Interim Principal
