MBHS Weekly Update - Week of 1/16/23

Greetings MB Families!

 

  • Monday, Jan 16th there is NO SCHOOL  in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

  • Tuesday, Jan 17th is an A Day

  • Solar Construction has begun.  The student parking lot is now closed, except for paid senior parking spots.  Students with a valid parking pass may park at the back of the school.  11th or 12th grade students who need a parking pass can see Mrs. Filamor for a pass.  

  • Construction Safety:

Lee Street - please make sure you are looking both ways when you are crossing Lee Street. We now have A LOT of vehicle traffic on Lee Street with the solar project construction. SAFETY FIRST! If you ride a bike to school, we need you to walk your bikes while on Lee Street. 

 

  • There will be an eBike safety course presented by SD Bike Coalition in partnership with Scripps Hospital Trauma Center and SD Police held on Monday January 30th from 6-8pm in the MBHS auditorium. This course is designed for all current student eBike riders, all future student eBike riders, and all parents to have the opportunity to learn proper safety protocols from experts in the community. The course is also open to the greater PB community to raise awareness and increase safety around our schools.

 

  • The next ELAC Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25th from 9-10am in the Counseling Center Conference Room. Parents of English Learners are invited to attend to learn about and sign up to be a part of ELAC. Parents will also be given the opportunity to take a parent survey.

 

  • Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego has a food distribution network for families in need.  Food can be picked up, or delivered.  Here is a link to sign up: https://ccdsd.org/efdn-request/

 

  • The semester ends on January 20th.  Need some help?  Attend ACES tutoring.  Tutoring is offered every morning from 7:30 - 8:30 in the library.  After school, we are open from 3:30-5:00, Monday - Thursday with MBHS teachers as well as university tutors across all subject areas. We can verify your student's attendance at ACES if necessary. If you have any questions contact [email protected]

  • Save the Date for the 2023 Talent Show! The Class of 2023 is excited to announce the dates and audition details for this year’s event! 

 

  • Bring back books you aren't using!  The majority of MB students have books and other items checked out from the library from previous school years.  Please help us keep our shelves stacked and return any books you are not using this school year. 

 

  • Want to get more involved?  Join the Parent Teacher Organization, Friends of Pacific Beach Secondary Schools (FOPBSS).  Go to their website to sign up for their weekly newsletter and learn more about how they support Mission Bay:  https://fopbss.org/
