Good Evening Buccaneer Families and Happy National Hispanic Heritage Month! 

We hope you’ve had a relaxing weekend! Here are some important announcements about the upcoming week:

  • Spirit Week - Join us in celebrating our Buccaneer Spirit during our first Spirit Week of the 2022-23 school year. Remember, students who participate are eligible to earn Spirit Bucs that can be used in the Buc Cafe and Gear Shop!

    • Monday, Sept 19: PJ Monday (not ready for school after your weekend? No problem! Just roll out of bed and come to school!)

    • Tuesday, Sept 20: Jersey Tuesday (represent your favorite sports team!)

    • Wednesday, Sept 21: BBQ Dad vs Soccer Mom Wednesday (embrace your future! Will you be the dad in jorts or the mom in yoga pants and a messy bun?)

    • Thursday, Sept 22: Wild West Thursday (Yeehaw!) 

    • Friday, Sept 23: Show your Buc Pride in all your Black and Gold Buc Gear. Don't forget to bring the spirit to our home game for Future Bucs Night, too!

  • ACES - We are excited to announce that we are now offering ACES tutoring before school in the library starting at 7:30 am every day.  Students coming to campus for ACES before school they are expected to stay in the library and work on assignments with the support of MBHS teachers.  Students can only enter at the staff lot by Rose Creek where a staff member will greet them at 7:30.

    • After school, we will still be available from 3:30-5:00, Monday - Thursday in the library with MBHS teachers as well as university tutors across all subject areas. We can verify your student's attendance at ACES if necessary. If you have any questions contact [email protected]

  • Annual Student information packets were sent home with students on Thursday, 9/15. Please complete the required forms and return them with your student no later than this Friday, 9/23.

  • There is a date change for IB Information Night - Please join IB Coordinator Tracy Borg September 20th at 5:30 via zoom if you would like to learn more about the benefits and requirements of our International Baccalaureate Diploma program.  All grade levels are welcome.   • Is your email address correct in PowerSchool? SDUSD delivers important student information such as test scores, report cards and interventions via email.  Make sure that you have a PowerSchool Parent Portal with an accurate email address and that you have not opted out of receiving documents via Digital Document Delivery Service. If you have questions, please contact [email protected] for assistance.

  • Cafeteria is hiring for student workers – this is a PAID opportunity -  Help is needed before school and/or during lunch for more information contact Dawn Marino [email protected] or see Dr. Brown!

  • Photo Make Up Day 9/28 and Re-take Day 9/29 - If you didn't take a photo during orientation, you will get a pass to take your school photo on Wednesday September 28th for a MAKE UP.  Passes will be delivered at the beginning of the period for your grade level.  Need a replacement ID card or want to retake your school photo? Plan to take it on Thursday, September 29th RE-TAKE Day during the period for your grade level. Per Lifetouch, you must return the original photo packet in order to do a re-take.

  • English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) - Our first ELAC meeting will be held this Wednesday 9/21 at 9am in the Library. This will be an informational meeting and an opportunity to get involved. All parents/guardians of current English Learners at MBHS are encouraged to attend this meeting. 

  • Senior Pictures - If you missed your appointment last week, you can do a make up on Oct 6th or 7th during assigned time home, IB Support, Avid, PE or Athletics.

  • Is your child sick?  They SHOULD take a COVID test before returning to school. If they test positive, please let the school know so we can connect you with instructions for a safe return to school.  Students MUST have improving symptoms and be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.  This information is based on the latest Decision Tree:
