General Announcements 

  •  P1 Progress Reports - You can see your final posted grades in Powerschool on Thursday, Oct 14th - Printed Progress reports will not be distributed.  
  • Minimum Day Wednesday, October 13th.  Here is the Minimum Day Bell Schedule. 

  • Songwriter's Club - please join us for our first Songwriter's Club next Wednesday, 10/13 at lunch in room 251. 
  • Thurs October 14th - MECha will be hosting an Empanada Fundraiser in the weedpatch during lunch. Yum!
  • Calling all bucs interested in theater or helping out backstage. The Drama Club will be doing the Crucible as our winter production this year. Anyone interested or who has the skills we need is welcomed to come help us. We need people who know about lighting, set design, costumes, and anyone with prior stage crew experience. We meet on Tuesdays in the little theater(Room 112).
  • Black Student Union (BSU) will be meeting outside room 332 at lunch every Wednesday. All are welcome!
  • Wellness Club is meeting on Tuesdays at lunch. Please join our Remind for more details by texting 81010 the message @mbhsw
  • Youth Advocates are meeting on Thursdays at lunch. Please join our Remind for more details by texting 81010 the message @yadvocates
  • Eco Club Wednesdays at lunch on the grass between the 250 and 260 buildings. 
  • Drumline practice every Friday after school from 3:30-5:00PM.  All are welcome, no experience needed. Room 113
  • Fall Sports Please check the Athletics Website for upcoming games and follow @mbbuccaneers on Instagram for updates. 
  •    ACES  Tutors are available from 3:30 - 5:00 in the LIBRARY Monday through Thursday! Along with daily support for English and History, you can get help with Research and Writing in any subject. Very soon we will have UCSD tutors for all levels of Math and Science. Please see Lancia in room 342 for more information

 

ASB Announcements

LGBTQIA+ History Month Facts of the Week: 

1. The rainbow flag, a symbol of the LGBTQ community, was designed in 1978 by Gilbert Baker. 
2. The first US gay rights organization was founded almost 100 years ago, in 1924
3. Books about LGBTQ issues are often banned. Reading a banned book is a great way to celebrate LGBTQ History Month!

  

***HOMECOMING WEEK***

 

Homecoming Dance:

Saturday, October 16 from 6-10pm at the Air and Space Museum in Balboa Park (students will not be admitted after 7pm). The dance will be held in the outdoor pavilion, with additional outdoor seating on a patio overlooking downtown San Diego.  District guidelines require masks to be worn properly, over the mouth and nose at all times. Social distancing requirements will also be enforced. Students who violate either of these guidelines will be removed from the dance without refund and parents will be called.

 

Homecoming Ticket Sales:

Buy by Oct 13th! Tickets are $75 and you need your signed dance contract. Dance contracts are available in the ASB room (332) or at this link.  If you have already purchased your dance ticket YOU MUST TURN IN A SIGNED CONTRACT BY OCT 13.

 

Homecoming Court Elections: 

Thank you for all of your nominations. Check out Buc TV to see who made it to Homecoming Court! Voting is open now at the following link and will close on Thursday Oct 14 at 5pm.

 

Homecoming Spirit Week:

Homecoming isn't complete without a Spirit Week! Be sure to show your spirit and participate for your chance to earn raffle tickets and win prizes from our Gear Shop!

Homecoming Lunch-Time Activities:

Head to the Weedpatch at lunch to participate or watch Homecoming lunch activities. Participant will win bragging rights and may win prizes!

    • Please check Canvas for more details about the College Essay Writing Workshop from 2-3pm on 10/5. 
    • College App Open Labs - Every Wednesday this month in the library computer lab at lunch! 
  • PSAT on Wednesday October 13th for All Juniors - Please see your counselor if you have questions
  •  MBHS Counseling Survey For Students/Families – please visit your counseling class in Canvas to complete this survey. Please take a moment to complete our survey. We would also love if you could share with your parent/guardian.   :) English        Spanish 
  • College Reps Visits for 11th and 12th Graders:
    Here are this week's visits - if you would like to hear about their school, ask questions, and get face-time, here's your chance! Please follow these steps:
    1) Ask your teacher for permission to attend (if you have a class at that time).
    2) Get a pass to check in at the MBHS Counseling Office five minutes before the visit begins
