General Announcements

  • P1 Progress Reports - The first grading term of the year ends this Friday! Please be sure that you have all assignments turned in, checked Powerschool and Canvas and/or checked in with your teacher. ACES Tutoring is available for all students before or after school Mon-Thurs. Your teachers will be notified when your P1 Progress Report grades are finalized in Powerschool but will be no later than next Friday 10/14. They will be delivered to your parents via Digital Document Delivery. 
  • Are you hungry for some orange chicken? - Go to Panda Express on Wednesday, October 19th 2022 anytime between 10am through 9:30pm on 1656 Garnet Ave, San Diego, CA 92109 to help support the 2024 class. GO BUCS! Flyer
  • To all who are interested in playing Girl's Basketball this season.  There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, 10/4/22 in the gym at Lunch.

  • Are you ready for Halloween? 🎃 We will be hosting a movie night in the Mission Bay High auditorium on Friday October 7th from 6pm-8:30pm. The entry is FREE! The movie will start at 6:30pm but we will start selling pizza, popcorn, candy and drinks at 6pm. The student parking lot will be open for those attending, everyone is welcome!! All proceeds will go to the class of 2024 Watch This

  • Senior Yearbook Content: We are collecting your Senior Content for the Yearbook including Senior Quote with Selfie and Baby Bucs. The deadline is November 1st to be included in the 2023 yearbook! Please complete the Google Form HERE or QR code.

  • Senior Pictures - If you missed your appointment last week, you can do a make up on Oct 6th or 7th during assigned time home, IB Support, Avid, PE or Athletics.
  • Blood Drive Save the Date – Oct 17th  San Diego Blood Bank will be hosting a Blood Drive in the foyer of the auditorium for students that are 17 & older and staff during prep or break time.  
  • Key Club is looking for a new advisor, please reach out to Sarah Almada if you are interested. 
  • Interested in community service? Join the Mission Bay Outreach Club, we meet Fridays during lunch in Mr.Enyart's room #183, everyone is welcome!
  • Model Painting Club now meeting every Wednesday in Room #232. No experience Necessary and ALL are Welcome.
  • Do you wish life was more like a musical? So do we! Come sing and act out songs from your favorite musicals and musical films during Musical Tuesdays during the lunch period ion the Little Theatre. We cover songs from Hamilton, Mulan, Mama Mia, and more! 
  • Attendance Tidbits - Avoid Saturday School - Remind your parents to please email missionbayattendance@sandi.net to clear up any absence issues. If you are late to school, regardless of the reason or arrival time, you must check-in at the attendance office. For example:  If you arrive between passing periods or lunch, don’t head straight to your next class.  Stop by attendance so we will have a record of you being on campus.  
  • Optional weekly COVID testing is on campus Thursdays 12 to 4 in the registrar's office. Need to register and consent to test. Please use this link: https://my.primary.health/l/sdusd_2022 Or sign up at the testing table with the tester on Thursdays 12 to 4. If you have questions, please see Nurse Maxwell. 
  • When students should stay home sick or is sent home sick from school:
  • They SHOULD take a COVID test before returning to school. If they test positive, please let the school know so we can connect you with instructions for a safe return to school.
  • They MUST have improving symptoms and be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.

  • ACES tutoring As we approach our first progress report grades on October 7th, ACES tutoring is available in the Library before school starting at 7:30 and after school until 5:00 with teachers there to help! Also, university tutors from UCSD will be arriving soon for specialized tutoring in Math and Science!

 

 

ASB Announcements

  • Homecoming Venue and Date Change: We are excited to announce that our Homecoming Dance will be held at The Natural History Museum on the Sat, Oct 15 at 7pm. This is the week before the Homecoming Game so now we can to start Homecoming week off with a big celebration at the dance and end it with a huge party and half time show at the game!!! If the new date does not work for you and you need a refund, please see Ms. Littlefield in room 332 by October 7- REFUNDS DUE TO DATE CHANGE WILL NOT BE GIVEN AFTER THIS DATE. You do not need a new Dance Contract if you already purchased a ticket. If you still need to buy your ticket here is the link to the updated Dance Contract. Remember, dance tickets are sold every Friday in the Gear Shop.

Tell Your Parents

  • Do you know an 8th grader that would like to come to Mission Bay High next year? The priority Choice application window for the 2023-2024 school year will run Monday, October 4, 2021 through Monday, November 15, 2021. Applications may be submitted after November 15th but will be processed in time/date order of receipt. If a student attends PBMS, they automatically feed into Mission Bay High and do not need to re-apply. Choice Enrollment for more information.  
  • School Site Council and Buc Leadership Team (Site Governance Team) will be combined on Wed 10/5 7:30AM via Zoom. Visit Site Governance Team page or contact tborg@sandi.net for more information.
  • P1 Grading Term ends this Friday, Oct 7th.  You can view your student's final progress report grades in Powerschool on Friday, Oct 14th. They will also be emailed via Digital Document Delivery to parents. Students must have good academic and citizenship marks in order to participate in most student activities. See the Student Handbook for more information.
