General Announcements 

  • Fall Photo Make-up Day is Monday, October 4th.  You will receive a pass  if you did not get your photo taken during orientation. Your pass will include your photo time.   

    9th Grade - 1st period

    12th Grade - 2nd Period (ID Cards - not senior portraits)

    11th Grade - 3rd Period

    10th Grade - 4th Period

  •  Would you like to RETAKE your School Photo? Lost your ID Card? You can RETAKE school photos before school, at lunch, or after school.  Manage your time well, do not be tardy - it is not excused.  DO NOT GO DURING CLASS TIME. Retake Hours are:

    Before School - 8:15 - 8:40 

    Lunch - 1:24 - 1:54

    After School - 3:30 - 4:00

  • MBHS Senior Photos Week of 10/4 - 10/8 - Seniors will get passes for both ID card photos and Senior Portraits.  SEE SENIOR ANNOUNCEMENTS SECTION 
  •  P1 Progress Reports - The first grading term of the year ends this Friday! Please be sure that you have all assignments turned in, checked Powerschool and Canvas and/or checked in with your teacher. ACES Tutoring is available for all students afterschool. Your teachers will be notified when your P1 Progress Report grades are finalized in Powerschool but will be no later than next Friday 10/15. 
  • Minimum Day Wednesday, October 13th.  Here is the Minimum Day Bell Schedule. 

  • There is no grater joy in life to be of help of the needed. Homeless and Hunger Awareness Club Announcement:

    Hi Everyone, this is the HHA club. We are throwing a clothing drive the week of Oct 4- Oct 8. If you would like to participate we will be putting cardboard boxes around campus (front office, ASB room, room 254) for you to donate your clothes in. If it’s used clothes make sure it is clean. Thank you!
  •  National Honors Society - NHS applications are due October 8th in Room 111.  If you have any questions email tborg@sandi.net
  • Eco Club Wednesdays at lunch on the grass between the 250 and 260 buildings. 
  • Drumline practice every Friday after school from 3:30-5:00PM.  All are welcome, no experience needed. Room 113
  • Fall Sports Please check the Athletics Website for upcoming games and follow @mbbuccaneers on Instagram for updates. 
  •    ACES  Tutoring is now available from 3:30 - 5:00 in the LIBRARY every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday! If you have any questions, please contact rlancia@sandi.netMBHS teachers along with university volunteers from UCSD are available to offer:
    • 1-on-1 tutoring in a variety of subject areas
    • Essay help in all phases of the writing process
    • Specialized help such as P/SAT prep and college apps
    • Tech support to navigate online classroom components
    • Access to computers, printers, resources, and reference materials
    • Attention to every student, every time

 

ASB Announcements

Black Student Union (BSU): Join BSU for our first meeting this school year. We will be meeting outside every Wednesday at lunch. Meet outside room 332 (ASB room) and we will find a place to meet on the grass. 

 

HISPANIC HERITAGE MONT

Hispanic Heritage Month Facts of the Week: 

  1. Hispanic Heritage Month was first proclaimed by President George H. W. Bush on September 14, 1989 
  2. The El Barrio Latin Jazz Festival in New York is held annually in September to coincide with Hispanic Heritage Month 
  3. The month is celebrated nationwide through festivals, parades, art shows, conferences, community gatherings, and much more

 

LGBTQAHISTORMONTH

LGBTQIA+ History Month Facts of the Week:

1. LGBTQ history month was started in the 90s by a high school history teacher. 

2. The reason it’s in October is because of other LGBTQ holidays in the month, such as National Coming Out Day on October 11.

3. LGBTQ history month is a time to highlight and celebrate queer people in the past and present and their achievements.

 

HOMECOMINDANCE

Homecoming Dance Info (COVID Guidelines and other important info): 

Dance Contract Download 

We are super excited that we are able to hold our Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 16 from 6-10pm at the Air and Space Museum in Balboa Park (students will not be admitted after 7pm). The dance will be held in the outdoor pavilion, with additional outdoor seating on a patio overlooking downtown San Diego. 

District guidelines require masks to be worn properly, over the mouth and nose at all times. Social distancing requirements will also be enforced. Students who violate either of these guidelines will be removed from the dance without refund and parents will be called. 

If you have already purchased your Homecoming ticket, but feel you cannot abide by the policies set in place by the district, please see Ms. Littlefield in room 332 for a refund during the refund window, September 27 to October 8. Refunds will not be issued after this date as we will have already paid the venue and our vendors. 
 

Homecoming Ticket Sales Update: Homecoming tickets will be on sale in the Gear Shop everyday this week. Remember to bring your Dance Contract at the time of purchase. Tickets are $55 with an ASB card, $65 without ASB card and $75 the week of the dance regardless of ASB card status. Dance contracts are available in the ASB room (332) or at this link https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oA5cxylV8J7pCjbCjPF_UmrSCEEtuPXI5juntVqUy6I/edit?usp=sharing . If you have already purchased your dance ticket YOU MUST TURN IN A SIGNED CONTRACT BY OCT 13.

Remember, October 13 is the last day to purchase your ticket. You don’t want to miss this event in our beautiful venue, with a delicious dessert and beverage bar, photo booth and caricature artist.

Homecoming Court Nominations and Elections: It's time for Homecoming Nominations!!! Who would you like to nominate to represent your class as a member of Homecoming Court? Nominations will be accepted Thursday and Friday of this week at the following link https://forms.gle/xiBPtgHK12FYS7TBA. Be sure to only nominate students in YOUR CLASS CATEGORY. All students may nominate staff members for Emperor and Empress!
Here are the Homecoming Court categories-

Juniors: Prince/Princess
Seniors: King/Queen
Staff: Emperor/Empress 

Voting will take place next week via a Google Form that will be shared on Buc TV and in the bulletin.

Tell Your Parents

  • The priority Choice application period for the 2022-2023 school year will run Monday, October 4, 2021 through Monday, November 15, 2021. Applications may be submitted after November 15th but will be processed in time/date order of receipt. 
  • The next FOPBSS Meeting will be October 13th - Save the Date!
  • P1 Grading Term ends this Friday, Oct 8th.  You can view your student's final progress report grades in Powerschool on Thursday, Oct 14th. Students must have good academic and citizenship marks in order to participate in most student activities. See the Student Handbook for more information.
  • Our first School Site Council meeting will be held on Thursday, October 7th in person in Room 111 and via zoom at 7:30.  Please note that this is the correct date and time.  The meeting is open to the public.  We are sorry for any confusion and miscommunication regarding the date and time.  The agenda will be posted on our website 72 hours in advance of the meeting.
