General Announcements 

September Calendar 

  • Photo Make Up Day 9/28 and Re-take Day 9/29 This Week - If you didn't take a photo during orientation, you will get a pass to take your school photo on Wednesday September 28th for a MAKE UP.  Passes will be delivered at the beginning of the period for your grade level.  Need a replacement ID card or want to retake your school photo? Plan to take it on Thursday, September 29th RE-TAKE Day during the period for your grade level. Per Lifetouch, you must return the original photo packet in order to do a re-take. 

Photo Schedule

  • Blood Drive Save the Date – Oct 17th  San Diego Blood Bank will be hosting a Blood Drive in the foyer of the auditorium for students that are 17 & older and staff during prep or break time.  
  • Key Club is looking for a new advisor, please reach out to Sarah Almada if you are interested. 
  • Interested in community service? Join the Mission Bay Outreach Club, we meet Fridays during lunch in Mr.Enyart's room #183, everyone is welcome!
  • Model Painting Club now meeting every Wednesday in Room #232. No experience Necessary and ALL are Welcome.
  • Do you wish life was more like a musical? So do we! Come sing and act out songs from your favorite musicals and musical films during Musical Tuesdays during the lunch period ion the Little Theatre. We cover songs from Hamilton, Mulan, Mama Mia, and more! 
  • Parking Permits - Please go to room 154 to get your Parking Permit if you haven't already done so.
  •  Saturday School is scheduled for Sat, Oct 1st, 2022 9AM – 1PM.  If you receive a Saturday school slip, please register on the Saturday School Registration webpage to reserve your seat. 

    Student Expectations for Saturday School: 
    -Arrive by 8:45AM – the gates will be closed at 9PM. DO NOT BE LATE
    -Must bring a picture ID
    -Stay for the entire session – a 2nd role call will be taken after the break
    -Complete assignment from the lesson taught during the 1st hour 
    -Bring your fully charged computer, headphones, homework and assignments to work on during the remainder of the day

  • Attendance Tidbits - Avoid Saturday School - Remind your parents to please email missionbayattendance@sandi.net to clear up any absence issues. If you are late to school, regardless of the reason or arrival time, you must check-in at the attendance office. For example:  If you arrive between passing periods or lunch, don’t head straight to your next class.  Stop by attendance so we will have record of you being on campus.  

  • 2023 Yearbook - The last day to purchase your 2023 yearbook at our lowest price of $70 is Friday, September 30th! Please keep in mind that we have sold out of yearbooks for the last five years, so reserve your copy now. You can bring cash or check to room 342 or use the links below to purchase yearbooks or customized Senior Ads online:

  • Cafeteria is hiring for student workers – this is a PAID opportunity -  Help is needed before school and/or during lunch for more information contact Dawn Marino dmarino@sandi.net or see Dr. Brown!
  • 9th Graders – Do you still have your middle school laptop? Be sure to stop by the library before school, at lunch or afterschool to swap it out for your new laptop.
  •  We are seeing an increasing amount of safety issues around E-Bikes. As a reminder, Bikes of any kind are not allowed to be ridden on the MBHS campus. Wear a helmet | Use your lights | Use warning lights | Ride on the proper side of the road, with traffic, not against it |Take the lane, when possible | Be a defensive drive | Use mirrors when possible | Safety First!

  • Optional weekly COVID testing is on campus Thursdays 12 to 4 in the registrar's office. Need to register and consent to test.   • Senior Pictures - If you missed your appointment last week, you can do a make up on Oct 6th or 7th during assigned time home, IB Support, Avid, PE or Athletics. 
  • When students should stay home sick or is sent home sick from school:
    They SHOULD take a COVID test before returning to school. If they test positive, please let the school know so we can connect you with instructions for a safe return to school.
    They MUST have improving symptoms and be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.

  • ACES tutoring is back at the Bay! We are excited to announce that we are now offering ACES tutoring before school as well and will be available in the library starting at 7:30 am every day (enter via Rose Creek gate). Please note that if you come to campus for ACES before school you are expected to stay in the library and get focused and organized and work on assignments with the support of MBHS teachers. After school, we will still be available from 3:30-5:00 in the library with MBHS teachers as well as university tutors across all subject areas. If you have any questions contact rlancia@sandi.net

ASB Announcements

  • Homecoming Venue and Date Change: We are excited to announce that our Homecoming Dance will be held at The Natural History Museum on the Sat, Oct 15 at 7pm. This is the week before the Homecoming Game so now we can to start Homecoming week off with a big celebration at the dance and end it with a huge party and half time show at the game!!! If the new date does not work for you and you need a refund, please see Ms. Littlefield in room 332 by October 7- REFUNDS DUE TO DATE CHANGE WILL NOT BE GIVEN AFTER THIS DATE. You do not need a new Dance Contract if you already purchased a ticket. If you still need to buy your ticket here is the link to the updated Dance Contract. Remember, dance tickets are sold every Friday in the Gear Shop.

  • Hispanic Heritage Month Facts of the Week from MEChA Club

    Fact #3: Under the leadership of César Chavez and others, more farm workers have been continuously provided with support to secure higher wages and safer working conditions 
    Fact #4: Dr. Ellen Ochoa was the first Hispanic woman astronaut to go to space in 1993!

  •  We are seeing an increasing amount of safety issues around E-Bikes. As a reminder, Bikes of any kind are not allowed to be ridden on the MBHS campus.
